A Lowndes County Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting will be held Wednesday, May 28 in the Lowndes County Commission Board Room from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Lowndes County is working with the South Central Alabama Development Commission (SCADC) to update the county hazard mitigation plan, as required every five years by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
According to Tracy Delaney of SCADC, every community must have an adopted hazard mitigation plan to be eligible for disaster recovery funds should a natural disaster occur.
All hazard mitigation plan meetings are open to the public and interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
Meeting topics will include hazard risk assessment and hazard vulnerability analysis.
