Jury trial week begins in Lowndes County

The April term of court for Lowndes County, a two-week session, began Monday, April 7 with the striking of juries for three separate cases involving sodomy, rape and attempted murder.

Presided over by Lowndes County Circuit Court Judge Terri Bozeman Lovell, according to Lowndes District Attorney Charlotte M. Tesmer, cases for which juries were to be struck Monday included Horace Williams, Dennis Tucker and Robert Patterson.

According to information from arrest reports, the circuit clerk’s office and the court docket, Williams of Hayneville, was 51 when he was arrested on grand jury indictments on Jan. 24 for charges of sodomy first degree and sodomy second degree.

Dennis Lee Tucker, of Tyler, was 29 when indicted on Jan. 13 on charges of rape first degree and rape second degree.

And Robert Christerforo Patterson, of Hayneville, was 21 at the time of his arrest on May 4, 2012. He faces charges of burglary first degree, attempted murder and robbery first degree.

Tesmer said the trial for Tucker is set for Wednesday, April 9, the trial for Williams is set for Thursday, April 10 and the trial for Patterson is set for Friday, April 11.
