Hayneville Baptist presents Living Nativity

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”
Sunday night,Dec. 15, despite the cold, members of Hayneville Baptist Church recreated the first nativity from some 2,000 years ago, with a living nativity presentation from 4-7 p.m.
There were Mary and Joseph with a babe and manager surrounded by shepherds and a live donkey. The baby in this case was a doll.
Visitors were treated to gift bags of candy, a Gospel tract and information about the church and it’s activities. There were also a petting zoo with horses and goats and hot chocolate.
Darrell Paulk, pastor of Hayneville Baptist Church, said, “We were looking for an opportunity to minister to the community and allow our church members to do something to serve those that they know and they love, whether friends or family members. And we thought this would be a good way to do this.”
Paulk also said that on Dec. 24,at 5 p.m.

Charles Renfroe, of Burkville with Party Ponies, said he is a member of the church and was asked to provide the donkey and petting zoo.
Wyatt Bailey, 11, of Hope Hull, who played a shepherd, said of the live nativity, “It’s fun.”
Samantha Peel, of Hayneville, who played Mary, said, “I enjoy it a lot. This is my first year to do it.”
Brayden Paulk,of Hayneville, who played Joseph, said, “It’s a little hard to stay warm, but it is fun.”
And James Bailey, of Hope Hull, said, “This is our church and this is a great thing to do for Christmas, and we just really enjoy doing it.”
Maczenzie Bailey, 9, of Hope Hull, also said, “It’s fun.”
