Clarice McKnight and Rashell Maldon, both 26-year-old females from Montgomery, were arrested on Feb. 28.

Green said the two were both charged with providing an inmate with a cellular phone which is a Class C felony since Aug. 1, 2012 and both were out of the Lowndes County Jail on a $5,000 bond each.

Green said the arrests were made with the assistance of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Montgomery City Police Department.

Green said this brings the total number of arrests in connection with the crackdown to 13, and he said the case will go to the grand jury for indictments.

Green said Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams has taken corrective action and provided education in the matter of the contraband to Lowndes County correction officers.
