781st to return Friday

The Alabama Army National Guard 781st Transportation Company unit out of Fort Deposit will be welcomed home on Friday, Jan. 18. at the Fort Deposit Municipal Complex auditorium between 11 a.m. and 12 noon.
Sgt. 1st Class Tom Wallace, administrator for the unit, made the announcement Saturday of the welcome home ceremony to be held at the municipal complex located at 200 Old Fort Road.
Fort Deposit Mayor Fletcher Fountain said he would like all the citizens of Fort Deposit to come out along the road in the area of the muncipal complex for a strong show of support for the troops to welcome them home.
The 781st Transportation Company was called to active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in February 2012.
It was announced at the time that the 781st Transportation Company would deploy nearly 120 Alabama National Guard soldiers to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and would provide transportation support to units throughout the area of operations.
The 781st previously supported combat operations for Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom as well as responded to numerous state domestic operations in times of need following natural disasters.
