Mayor Fletcher Fountain of Fort Deposit announced Friday morning that he has called a special meeting of town council for Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. to deal with the town’s debt of $1.7 million with First Citizens Bank in connection with the industrial park.

Fountain would not comment further other than to say he will explain a plan to deal with the debt at the meeting.

Fountain said the town is not in danger of foreclosure, but is ready to deal with its debt. No other details are available at this time.
