An EF 0 tornado touched down in Lowndes County on Friday, April 15, according to the National Weather Service of Birmingham.

However, Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency Director Walter Hill said there was “minimal damage, no injuries or loss of life.”

Hill said Monday that an assessment of the storm was completed on Friday, April 22.

An EF 0 is defined as a tornado with winds of 75 miles per hour, according to Kevin Laws of the National Weather Service in Birmingham, who conducted the assessment.

Hill said the tornado “covered an area from Hayneville to Hope Hull.” He said trees were downed along Highway 21 from the Braggs Community to Mt. Willing.

He said a trailer was damaged in the Braggs Community, and there was a brief power outage.

Laws said the storm was pretty much parallel to Interstate 65. He said it crossed County Road 32 going into Hope Hull. He said a pavilion was also damaged.
