Hundreds attend senior citizens’ celebration

More than 200 people attended the recent annual Senior Citizen Banquet hosted by a local church in the Mosses community (Mt. Moriah #2 Baptist Church) in a combined host  church sponsor (Bougahoma Baptist Church).

The event was held in the Hayneville Plaza Grand Ballroom with Senior Citizen members from both church congregation decked out in their after-five attire.

The coordinator, Cathy Robinson, of Mt. Moriah # 2 was all smiles as she along with all other attends watched the Senior Citizens strut their way into the ballroom to their respective seats.

The entire evening was dedicated to the Senior Citizens and was filled with food, fun, music and entertainment.

Each of the more than 50 attending Senior Citizens were presented with gifts, in addition to guest attending Senior Citizens being presented with a gift bag and other items by the host churches committee members.

Before the evening ended, the annual crowing of Mr. and Miss Senior Citizen was conducted with a name being randomly drawn from bags containing the name of female senior citizens and male senior citizens.

After the random pulling of names, Mr. Kirk Gilliam was crowned MR. SENIOR CITIZEN and Miss. Ada Lue Sellers was crowned MISS. SENIOR CITIZEN for 2010-11.

The night ended with Rev. Larry Townsend, Pastor of Mt. Moriah # 2 expressing accolades to Mrs. Robinson and her committee hosting another successful Senior Citizen Banquet.

Mrs. Cathy Robinson said she is humbled and grateful to Bougahoma and Mt. Moriah # 2 members for all their support and cooperation in helping to make the event a success.
