The Central-Hayneville High School (CHS) Athletics Department was recently donated an array of video equipment from the SABIC company in Fort Deposit to replace equipment lost in a fire several months ago.

The equipment, received by mail, included a digital video camera with case, a digital video transfer device, video editor, software and a four-disk compact disc copier.

The school’s Athletic Director, Tito Baker, said the athletics department is at a point where it can effectively evaluate its team and learn how the department can improve as a whole.

Principal Peggy Grant said, the equipment not only offers an upgrade from what was lost, but it will also provide the school with a variety of uses for the students.

“It will provide footage for athletes,” said Grant. “Schools are required to distribute tapes after each football game, but we can also use it for athletes who are planning to attend colleges to help put our guys out there.”

In addition to the various donations CHS has received from people, businesses, churches, schools and organizations, architects are in the process of drawing up plans for the school’s new field house.

“All of the contributions will truly aid our athletic program and assist our students in becoming the best athletes possible,” Grant said.
