Lowndes County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting that took place along Highway 80 on Dec. 10.
Cornelius Jamal Butler, 17, and Valente Babatunde Hinsu, 18, of Montgomery were arrested late Friday night for attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and carrying a pistol without a permit.
The two men were driving down Highway 80 when they opened fire on another person driving the same stretch of highway, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Charlie “Chip” Williams.
The victim was rushed to Baptist South where they were treated for three gunshot wounds.
“We are not releasing the victim’s name at this time. Their condition is stable,” said Williams. “They were struck three times, but are expected to recover, according to our investigators.”
Williams said the victim’s name is not being released at this time pending the investigation.
Butler and Hinsu’s bail has been set at $500,500 — $440,000 for attempted murder, $60,000 for discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and $500 for carrying a pistol without a permit.
