Games will be played every hour on the hour all day and alternate between termite and peewee teams, according to event organizer Laura Ward.

The Confederate Bowl has been a tradition of the local teams for 10 years or more and is a way for the sixth-grade students, teachers and parents to raise money for the termite and peewee sports banquet.

“It is the responsibility of the sixth-grade class to organize and raise money for the banquet,” Ward said. “We get a lot of help from the parents.”

Ward said that about 155 football players and 400 or more guests are expected to attend the event.

Concessions and t-shirts will be available during the event.

The first game scheduled is between the Lowndes and Crenshaw Termites and will start at 9 a.m.

Following the termites, Lowndes and Hooper PeeWee teams will go head-to-head in game two at 10 a.m.

Hooper Termites will take on the Pike Termites in game three starting at 11 a.m., followed by the Pike and Crenshaw PeeWee teams at 12 p.m.

Starting at 1 p.m., the teams defeated in games one and three will go head-to-head. The 2 p.m. game will feature the losing teams from games two and four.

The Termite Championship, featuring the winners from games one and three will start at 3 p.m., followed by the PeeWee Championship game at 4 p.m between the winners of games two and four.

All participating football teams will be receiving trophies after the Confederate Bowl games.
