A local Lowndes County business has been burglarized and police are pointing to three juvenile suspects in the case.

Mosses Meat Market was burglarized between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. July 13 by three juveniles ages 12, 16 and 17, according to Mosses Police Chief Jimmy Harris.

The suspects stole $780 in cash, a PlayStation 2 console, two games for the PlayStation 2, 40 packs of cigars and two cartons of cigarettes. The store’s security camera system was damaged during the burglary.

“The juveniles went through a store window,” said Harris. “None of the suspects have been arrested or are being held at this time.”

The suspects are not being held because of the statutes of juvenile laws and police are waiting to hear from Lowndes County Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Debra Caldwell, according to Harris.

An anonymous tip about possible stolen items being sold led police to the homes of the suspects, where they and their parents were questioned, according to Harris.

“We are awaiting a preliminary hearing to determine how the case will proceed in the juvenile court system,” said Harris.

Most of the items, with the exception of the $780 cash, have been recovered from the homes of the suspects, according to Harris.
