The case regarding a Mosses man accused of murdering his infant child is scheduled to go before the grand jury late July, according to the District Attorney’s office.

Michael Washington’s was arrested for his alleged role in the murder of his two-year-old daughter Michelle Washington and his case is set to appear before the grand jury July 26.

After a preliminary hearing, Washington’s bond was set at $100,000 and is being currently held at the Lowndes County Detention Facility, according to Chief Sheriff‘s Deputy Lenny Lee.

It is uncertain if the scheduled grand jury date will hold pending lab results, medical records and reports from the medical examiner, according to Jessica Caldwell with District Attorney‘s office.

Lowndes County Coroner Audrey Marlette certified Michelle dead around 12 p.m. April 5 and studies from pathologists determined the infant’s death fit that of a homicide victim.

Washington turned himself in to police May 3 under the advisement of his attorney Mickey McDermott after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Chip Williams.

Attempts to contact McDermott were unsuccessful.
