A Lowndes County man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault of a seven-year-old child.

Michael Steven Hadden, 34, is in the custody of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department after being arrested at a Montgomery Chevron June 16.

Hadden was charged with assault, first-degree and sodomy, first-degree and is being held on a $500,000 bond at the John Hulett Detention Facility. Hadden has no prior record of sexual assault, according to Lowndes County Chief Deputy Lenny Lee.

Deputies spoke with the child and the child’s mother, who claim Hadden assaulted the child, according to Chief Investigator Derrick Maull.

The assault allegedly occurred while Hadden was living with the child’s mother in Lowndes County, said Lee.

“Hadden offered a full confession of his assault on the child after his arrest,” said Lee.
