An honors ceremony for a citizen of Lowndes County will be held on May 27 at the Ft. Deposit Library.
Dan Therrien will be recognized by the Ft. Deposit Library Board on Thursday at 7 p.m. for his efforts and achievements with the Ft. Deposit Public Library.
Therrien has obtained over $100,000 for a computerized library system and building repairs and has applied for over $1 million in federal grants to improve the current building.
Therrien said he will use the money to renovate about 7,500 sq ft of the library for classrooms, a conference room, kitchen and computer lab to make it into a career development center to compliment the free GED classes the library hosts in partnership with a local university.
All citizens of Ft. Deposit have been invited to the event to give thanks to Therrien and enjoy refreshments.
