Law enforcement officials have issued an arrest warrant for the father of a Lowndes County infant who recently died under suspicious circumstances.

Michael Washington, father of Michelle Washington, is currently being pursued by officials after further investigation with District Attorney John Andrews.

Several attempts by the Sheriff’s Department have been made to contact Washington in regards to the death of his infant daughter, but the attempts have proved unsuccessful.

Michelle was pronounced dead on arrival April 5 by paramedics after reports of an unresponsive child.

“We have been working in conjunction with the Montgomery Police Department and the surrounding counties to apprehend Washington,” said Lee.

Lee said the MPD is well educated on the investigation based on prior statements from the suspect.
