The recent death of an infant in Mosses has been ruled a homicide, according to Investigator Lenny Lee.

Michelle Washington was pronounced dead on arrival at 12 p.m. after paramedics and law enforcement responded to a report of an unresponsive child on Williams Court, Mon., April 5.

Preliminary studies from pathologists determined that the 2-year-olds death fit that of a homicide victim.

No one has been formally charged with the crime, though investigators are interviewing a person of interest in the case.

Lee said his department will be conducting further inquires to find those responsible.

“After additional information is obtained from the interviews with the suspect, a determination can be made as to the need of an arrest,” said Lee.

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating along with the District Attorney, according to a statement by Lowndes County Sheriff Chip Williams.

“Currently the individual being questioned has not sought legal representation from an attorney,” said Williams.
