Tidbits – Special to The Signal

Those of you who did not attend the “Fireman’s Banquet” recently really missed a treat.  We enjoyed a delightful meal as well as entertainment and the presentation of awards.

We should appreciate our fire department for the excellent job they do.

They’re always reachable and ready to come to us, sometime when there isn’t a fire, just some big problem.

It is comforting to know that we can count on them in an emergency.  The Fire Department has managed to get much of their gear,etc., that is required but the cost of these items is very high.  PLEASE send donations to them as often as you can – you know, it could be your house, your property or your church next!

Rupert Frazier has enjoyed a visit from his daughter Jenny Brickhouse of  Norfolk, VA. on March 16 – 25.
His other daughter, Julia Westfall of Washington, D.C. will be visiting with him from March 22 – 25.

We enjoyed meeting Jenny at the Senior Center.

Dennis Carlson, pastor of Fort Deposit Methodist Church, attended a Conference at St. Simon’s Island recently.

He had to attend many classes but enjoyed the scenery there during the little time he had off.  It’s a beautiful place.

Clara   and Jerry Johnson came down on Sunday and enjoyed taking Mom, Rose Ellis, to lunch at Nanny’s.

There enjoyed seeing a number of their friends while there.

Rose also enjoyed going for a nice ride with them.

Howard, Julie and Jake McCraney came down on Sunday for worship service.

We were joined by Sharon and Ronnie Paulk and Michael Coleman for lunch at The Chef’s Table.  Really great food.

Mary Davis returned home from Crowne Health Care on Monday.  Mary was getting rehab for a problem with her back.

She is improving steadily and was “one happy lady” to be home.

Myrtle Moorer of Ozark has been on bed rest most of the time due to a recent fall.

Seems our bones don’t hold up too well with pressure applied after we get older.

We hope she will soon be much better.

Vickie Simmons is feeling much better and is no long taking treatments.  We are thankful for her progress.

Our sincere sympathy got to the family of Mary Evelyn Payne who passed away recently.

Her interment was in Sandy Ridge on Sunday afternoon.

“Miss” Mary Evelyn had been ill for a long time. She and daughter, Mary Evelyn Carlton live together in Sandy Ridge .

“Miss” Mary Evelyn was a beautiful lady within and without.  She was always so pleasant and had such a pleasants smile.

Our prayers are with Mary Evelyn’s family, John Roberts family and all others who were near and dear to her.
