Lowndes County District Attorney Charlotte M. Tesmer secured two victories in a home invasion related case during the April term of court before Circuit Court Judge Terri Bozeman Lovell.
Leroy Abner, 32 of Montgomery, pleaded guilty in Lowndes County Circuit Court on Monday, April 14 to attempted murder and robbery in the first degree for which he was arrested in 2012.
And Robert Christerforo Patterson, who was 21 of Hayneville at the time of his arrest in 2012, was found guilty by a Lowndes County Jury on Friday, April 11th on charges of burglary in the first degree, attempted murder and robbery in the first degree.
Tesmer called the two co-defendants and confirmed both were arrested in connection with the same event.
Lowndes County District Attorney Charlotte M. Tesmer said, “We’re pleased with the jury’s verdict,” in the Patterson case.
She said Patterson would be sentenced on May 7 and, “Due to his priors, he’s looking at life without parole.”
Tesmer said Abner received a 16 year split four sentence, which means he serves for years with the rest on probation.
She said Patterson was convicted on three Class A felonies.
Tesmer said of both the Patterson and Abner cases, “These convictions should send a message that the safety and security of the citizens of Lowndes County, in their homes and the community, will continue to be the focus of the Lowndes County law enforcement officials and the district attorney’s office.”
